Offline install kit

No internet, not even once.

Ledsten normally downloads its assistant during setup. On a computer that must never go online, bring the file on a USB stick instead. Ledsten checks it exactly as it would a download.

How

Three steps.

  1. On a computer with internet

    Download the Ledsten installer from the install page and one assistant file from the list below. Check the file’s SHA-256.

  2. Copy both to a USB stick

    The assistant file is large; the stick needs room for it.

  3. Install and choose “Install from file”

    On the offline computer, install Ledsten from the stick. In setup’s download step, choose Install from file… and pick the assistant’s .gguf file. Ledsten checks its size and SHA-256 before installing it.

Then carry on with setup as normal. Pick the same version in setup as the file you brought.

Checking the file

Before you copy it.

Work out the file’s SHA-256 and compare it with the one above. Ledsten does the same check when you install it, but it’s worth knowing before you carry the file anywhere.
